GifCam stays on your desktop, on top of any other open window. You can resize GifCam as you see fit and place it anywhere you want. When you’re ready, launch the recording process. GifCam will record whatever you’re doing – like for example drawing some circles in Paint. Stop the recording, access the Edit function if you want to, and save the recording. Go through all these steps and you will end up with a nice GIF animation.

GifCam does not have to be installed on your Windows-powered machine. To get started with the application you must download a lightweight executable, extract the executable inside the archive, and run said executable. Of course, this makes GifCam a portable application. You can put in on a USB flash drive for example and take it with you.

You can resize GifCam and you can place the GifCam window anywhere you want on the screen. The application’s interface is made up of a large blank panel (anything underneath it will be recorded by the application) and a panel with buttons for launching the recording process, accessing the Edit function, and saving the recording. It is, in all fairness, a very simple interface.

As mentioned above, using GifCam is a very simple matter: launch the application, select the area to be recorded, launch the recording, edit it, and then save it. In no time at all you will create a nice GIF animation. There are a few details here that deserve to be mentioned: record at 13/16/33 FPS, record the entire screen, set the frame delay, delete frames, add delay to a frame, save the GIF animation in 256 colors, 20 colors, as grayscale or monochrome.

In just a few steps you can create a nice GIF animation. You just need the free and portable
application GifCam.

Pros

GifCam does not have to be installed. The GifCam interface is quite simple. Use GifCam to record, edit, and save GIF animations. There are several options to play with. GifCam is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
